it's been a while

so much for more frequent blogging...

I have been reading many more blogs and am now inspired to make it more of a habit.

It is a sad realization that your boss is an alcoholic. Well, mine is. It used to be that our Pink Elephant (PE) was just known to the people in our department. Well, since our PE started drinking at 0830 and arrived at the Company Employee Recognition Banquet completely obliterrated, now everyone is commenting on our PE....She is generally a good PE: well behaved, slurring, but still understandable, lovey-dovey drunk. The CEO and the CFO (both married men) also know about our PE's qualities! I hope she keeps her job, cause none of us want to have to train a new boss!

Winter is trying to hold on, spring is fighting to take control. The tourists will be here in no time to drive around and look at the fields of springtime flowers. It's big business...hotels are booked, florists are swamped, and tourists are going to be arriving any minute now. They would be wonderful, except........the fields of color are between my house and The Company. Driving will be unbearable for the next 2 months. Oh joy!

I understand the money machine. Hotel reservations, meals eaten out, trinkets, t-shirts, bottled water, instant cameras, gas and, of course, trips to WalMart. I am sure the city officials are licking their lips. But 19 years ago this was a little town with pretty flowers. Now we are forced to endure people gawking at the fields for not a weekend, but an entire month!

Bring on spring!
